Dhaka stocks edge higher, CSE in the red

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Share prices at the country’s premier bourse -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) edged marginally higher while Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – closed flat on Monday.

The DSE general index, DGEN ended at 4,270.88 points, adding 9.88 points or 0.23 per cent.

Of the 268 issues traded on the premier bourse, 77 advanced, 53 declined and 38 remained unchanged.

Turnover improved to BDT 3.55 billion, up by 11.28 per cent from previous session’ BDT 3.19 billion.

Summit Purbanchal Power which made debut today (Monday) dominated the day’s top turnover chart with shares worth BDT 588.23 million changing hands.

Summit Purbanchal Power also the day’s highest gainer posting a rise of 43.75 per cent in its debut trading day while Al-Haj Textile was the day’s worst loser, plunging by 6.06 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange also closed flat with the CSE Selective Category Index, CSCX ended at 8,260.04 points after losing 4.23 points.
Losers beat gainers 50 to 118 with 19 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse with BDT 785.04 million turnover.
