Dhaka stocks fall for second consecutive day

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Share prices in the country’s premier bourse Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) fell for the second consecutive trading session on Tuesday, market operators said.
The DSE benchmark DGEN index plunged 65.83 points or 1.06 percent to close at 6106.46 points at the end of the day’s three-hour session. 
Amongst the 255 issues traded on Tuesday, only 22 advanced, 224 lost and nine remained unchanged. 
Non-banking financial institutions (NBFIs) were the only gainer on the day. 
Among other major sectors banks, telecommunication, pharmaceuticals and power declined 1.26 percent, 1.36 percent, 0.94 percent, and 0.32 percent respectively. 
Total turnover value stood at BDT 3.5 billion; which was 19.5 percent lower than last session's value. Beximco Limited topped the turnover chart with turnover value of BDT 184.3 million.
