Dhaka stocks fall marginally

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Dhaka stocks edged marginally lower on Wednesday amid volatile trading throughout the session with turnover rise significantly as investors in cautious mood.
 
The market opened with a positive note and gained almost 60 points within 15 minutes. After that it witnessed fluctuation throughout the session and finally ended 19 points lower.
 
The benchmark general index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, generally known as DGEN, lost 19.04 points or 0.36 per cent to close at 5,220.65 points on the day.
 
Turnover value increased to BDT 5.26 billion in value terms against BDT 4.23 billion in the previous session.
 
Out of 264 issues traded, 86 advanced in prices, 160 declined and 18 remained unchanged.
 
Meghna Petroleum was the top turnover chart with shares worth BDT 187.27 million changing hands following its corporate declaration of 35 percent cash dividend.
 
Renwick Jajneswar was the day’s highest gainer posting a rise of 9.95 percent following its up gradation in ‘A’ category from ‘Z’ category while Libra Infusion was the worst loser.
