Dhaka stocks fall with all three indices going down

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Dhaka stocks decreed on Sunday with all three indices going down, market operators said.

The benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, generally known as DGEN, was down by more than 300 points (-4.1 percent) at one point,  but recovered well in the last 80 minutes to close 1.87 percent or 141 points lower. The other two indices, DSI and DSE-20, also lost 1.90 percent and 0.72 percent respectively.

Most of the sectors retraced on the day, including all the financial sectors - bank (-1.77 percent), non-banking financial institutions (-1.71 percent), general insurance (-5.90 percent) and life insurance (-4.63 percent).

On the other hand, Pharmaceuticals gained 1.60 percent as Square Pharma advanced 6.09 percent on Sunday. it was Sunday’s top gainer as well. Bata Shoe (+5.8 percent), Heidelberg Cement (+5.8 percent) and Apex Adelchi (+3.2 percent) also featured in the top ten gainers list.

Sunday’s turnover value stood at BDT 11.7 billion, 10 percent higher than last Thursday’s value, the DSE data showed.
