Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Dhaka stocks continued to gain on Sunday, as the key index reached its highest-ever level at 6,958 points, market operators said.

The DSE General Index (DGEN), the main gauge of the market, gained 54.61 points or 0.79 percent to close at an all-time high of 6958.69. It sets the new record beating the previous all-time high of 6947.13 just in a span of three sessions.

The broader DSE All Shares Price Index (DSI) was up by 45.86 points or 0.79 percent to 5832.89. The DSE-20 blue chip index rose 26.65 points or 0.65 percent to 4123.

Trading activities got pace, as the turnover stood at BDT 19.11 billion, an increase of 20 per cent over the previous session.

Gainers took a modest lead over the losers, as out of 260 issues traded, 143 advanced, 113 declined and four remained unchanged, the DSE data showed.

Three sectors – non-banking financial institutions, textile and cement – closed in the positive territory. Telecommunications, mutual funds, and service sectors led the list of the top negative performers.
