Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Dhaka stocks extended its gaining streak for the third consecutive session on Wednesday with significant rise in turnover as investors went for fresh buying.
The market opened with a positive mood, gaining more than 30 points within first hour and the positive momentum continued slowly but steadily till the market closure and finally ended 74 points higher.
The benchmark general index of Dhaka Stock Exchange--DGEN advanced 74.53 points or 146 per cent to close at 5,163.88 on the day.
The gainers took a strong lead over the losers as out of 261 issues traded, 239 advanced, only 15 declined while seven remained unchanged.
Turnover value increased significantly and stood at BDT 4.15 billion which was 24.25 percent higher compared to BDT 3.34 billion in the previous session.
National Bank Limited was the day’s top turnover leaders with shares worth BDT 172.67 million changing hands.
Saiham Textile was the highest gainer posting a rise of 9.94 percent following the news of its right offer while Rupali Insurance was the worst loser and lost 33.81 per cent following their price adjustment after record date.
