Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Dhaka stocks gained slightly on Tuesday led by Grameenphone and insurance and non-banking financial institution sectors, market operators said.
The benchmark DSE General Index (DGEN) inched up by 0.16 percent and 10.94 points to end at 6,633.46, after hitting highest 6,658.28 and lowest 6,621.97.
The broader DSE All Shares Price Index (DSI) closed at 5,532.54 with a slight gain of 0.13 per cent or 7.31 points. The DSE-20 blue chip index lost 0.28 per cent or 11.07 points to 3,837.22.
Turnover, however, picked up its pace as it stood at BDT 19.3 billion, highest since August 10 and 20 percent higher than the previous session.
Grameenphone, the most weighted shares in DSE and lone listed company in the telecommunications sector, climbed 2.04 per cent, extending three sessions of gains.
Non-banking financial institutions (NBFIs) sector was up by 1.26 percent after marginal rise in the previous session. Among the sector, Prime Finance gained highest 2.44 percent, followed by IDLC 3.28 per cent.
Banking sector, which make up one-fourth of the market's capitalization, declined marginally 0.56 per cent with UCBL leading the fall.
