Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Dhaka stocks gained slightly for the second straight session on Tuesday amid volatile trading throughout the session as late sale pressure wiped-off most of the early gain.
 
The market opened with a positive note, gaining more than 40 points within first 25 minutes and the upbeat momentum continued till 2:00 pm (local time) amid moderate ups and down. But, late hour sale pressure wiped-off most of the early gain and finally ended 9.44 points higher.
 
The benchmark general index of Dhaka Stock Exchange–DGEN advanced 9.44 points or 0.18 per cent to close at 5,089.34 on the day.
 
Turnover value declined slightly and stood at BDT 3.34 billion against BDT 3.47 billion in the previous session.
 
Out of 258 issues traded, 173 advanced, 73 declined and 12 remained unchanged.
 
Mercantile Bank continued to top the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 139.68 million changing hands.
 
BD Lamps was the highest gainer posting a rise of 9.90 percent while Jamuna Oil was the worst loser and lost 22.43 percent following price adjustment after record date.
