Dhaka stocks general index hits record before falling

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Dhaka stocks market started with a very strong note on Sunday breaking all the previous high records.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange General Index (DGEN) closed at 8,981.51 points. However the bull run ended on Monday following two consecutive directives from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The market witnessed the biggest one day fall on Wednesday with DGEN falling by more than 500 points by the middle of the trading session.

The SEC postponed the two directives which helped the market recover at the end of the day. In total the market retraced more than 5 percent in the three days before it ended on a positive note on Thursday. DGEN ended the week at 8,580.19 points, shedding off 257.91 points or 2.92 percent.
