Dhaka stocks return to green after two weeks

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) came to positive territory again in the last week that ended Thursday, breaking two straight weeks of losing streak.
The market closed positive this week as investors get some confidence following the news that some sponsor/directors of listed companies announcement to buy shares, market operators said.
During the week, as many as 15 companies’ sponsor/directors declared to buy shares through DSE within 30 days.
 
The week witnessed five trading sessions as usual. Among them three sessions advanced while two sessions suffered losses.
 
During the week, the general index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange-- DGEN, surged 67.88 points or 1.38 per cent to close at 5,000.18.
 
The broader All Shares Price Index (DSI) advanced 55.23 points or 1.34 per cent to close at 4,168.71. The DSE-20 Index comprising blue-chip shares also gained 44.94 points or 1.21 per cent to close at 3,761.41.
 
Total turnover value in the week almost doubled compared to last week mainly as there was one less trading session last week due to public holiday on the occasion of holy Ashura.
 
Total turnover value stood at BDT 13.7 billion which was BDT 9.1 billion in the previous week.
 
Daily average turnover value increased 20.20 per cent as turnover value hit three-week high on Wednesday while daily average turnover value stood at BDT 2.7 billion compared to last week’s value of BDT 2.3 billion.
