Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– All out preparations have been taken to observe the 91st Founding Day of the Dhaka University (DU) on July 1 amid great enthusiasm and festivity with the participation of its current and former students.
The theme of the day is: ‘Higher Education in Women Empowerment’.
A committee led by DU treasurer Professor Kamal Uddin has been formed to celebrate the occasion in a befitting manner.
Processions will be brought out from the residential halls of the university at 9.00 am, while the national flag, DU flag and flags of different halls will be hoisted at 9:15 am.
Later, teachers and students will bring out a procession and then move to the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) on the campus to attend inaugural dance function at 10 am, and discussion and reminiscing program at 10:05 am.
DU vice-chancellor (VC) Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique will attend the discussion as the chief guest while pro-vice-chancellors Prof Nasreen Ahmed (academic) and Professor Shahid Akther Hossain (administration) will be present as special guests.
Besides, meetings, debate competition at the TSC, football and cricket matches, cultural functions and drama will be held on the occasion.
The day is observed to mark the launching of academic activities by the DU on this day in 1921.
