Disaster death toll rises to 110 in southeastern Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- At least 110 people have so far been accounted killed in Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Bandarban due to landslides, house collapses and lightening following torrential rains over the past several days.
Of the casualties, 41 killed in Cox's Bazar, 36 in Bandarban, 31 in Chittagong and two in Sylhet, according to the control room of the Food and Disaster Management Ministry.
The casualties were counted till 10:00am on Thursday.
Meanwhile, flight operations at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong resumed Thursday morning after nearly a 36-hour halt as water receded from the runway.
The flight operations at the airport were suspended at 5:00pm on Tuesday as the runway and taxiway were submerged in knee-deep water due to torrential rains.
