Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The upward trend of US dollar against the Bangladesh Taka continued on Monday in the inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market.
“The US dollar is appreciated by maximum 7 paisa in the evening market due to higher import payment obligations,” a senior treasury official of a leading private commercial bank (PCB) told the BBN in Dhaka.
The US dollar was BDT 78.68-BDT 78.72 in the evening market, he added.
The Bangladesh Taka (BDT) depreciated by seven paisa against the US dollar in early hour transactions on Monday in inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market.
The US dollar was quoted at BDT 78.65 on Sunday.
The local currency deprecated by around three paisa against the US dollar at customer level on Sunday due to higher demand for the greenback in the market.
The exchange rate of the US dollar at customer level rose to BDT 79.3740 on Sunday from 79.3740 of the previous working day. It was BDT 79.3188 on Wednesday.
