Doreen Power week’s top turnover chart on DSE

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Doreen Power Generations and Systems dominated the week’s transaction chart for the second straight week on the Dhaka bourse that ended on Thursday as investors booked profit on its shares.
According to statistics available with the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), about 9.39 million shares of Doreen Power were traded, generating a turnover of over BDT 1.12 billion last week. It was 5.15 percent of the week’s total turnover.
The daily average turnover for the power generation company was BDT 225 million.
Each share of the company closed at BDT 119.20 on Thursday, the last trading session of the week, registering a decline of 3.64 percent over the previous week.
The board of directors of the company, which was listed this year, has recommended 10 percent cash dividend for all shareholders excluding the sponsors/directors and 20 percent stock dividend for all shareholders for the year ended on June 30, 2016.
The sponsors/directors hold 60 million shares and the cash dividend to be payable to the general shareholders is BDT 20 million.
The final approval will come during the annual general meeting (AGM) scheduled to be held on December 18 at 10:30am at Trust Milonayaton in Dhaka. The record date for entitlement of cash dividend is on November 13.
The company has also reported consolidated earnings per share (EPS) of BDT 0.64, consolidated net asset value (NAV) per share (with revaluation) of BDT 34.34, consolidated NAV per share (without revaluation) of BDT 24.67 and consolidated net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) of BDT 1.13 for the year ended on 30.06.2016 as against BDT 2.25, BDT 36, BDT 22.30 and BDT 5.90 respectively for the year ended on 30.06. 2015.
The sponsor-directors own 75 percent stake in the Doreen Power, while institutional investors own 9.57 percent and the general public 15.43 percent as of September 29.
The company’s paid-up capital is BDT 800 million and authorised capital is BDT 2,000 million while total number of securities is 80,000,000, according to DSE figures.
Doreen Power was, closely followed by MJL Bangladesh BDT 578 million, Lafarge Surma Cement BDT 531 million, Brac Bank BDT 456 million, Fortune BDT 443 million and Argon Denim BDT 434 million.
Square Pharmaceuticals was also included in the top ten turnover chart with shares worth BDT 382 million changing hands, followed by Shasha Denim BDT 380 million and Mithun Knitting BDT 365 million.
