DRU condemns police attack on journalist Aminul

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Office bearers of the executive committee of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), including its president and general secretary, expressed deep concern as police injured a senior journalist with a rubber bullet on DRU premises in Dhaka on Friday.
In a statement, the DRU President Shahed Chowdhury and General Secretary Ilias Khan said "it is a matter of grave concern and condemnation to hit a journalist by rubber bullets and such activities are not in favour of free journalism."
The DRU leaders also demanded exemplary punishment to the alleged policeman responsible for the incident. 
Aminul Haque Bhuiyan, senior reporter of the daily Amader Arthoniti, was critically injured as he was received rubber bullet in his right leg. 
A number of few journalists including former president of the DRU, M Shafiqul Karim Sabu, were present at that time at the scene, but they remained unhurt.
The DRU leaders also expressed strong condemnation over the incidents of on- duty journalist repression by the police and the Islamic parties activists  at different parts in the city on Friday.
