Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Stocks ended higher on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Sunday amid improved turnover value as participation of investors increased amid optimism.

The DSE general index, DGEN ended at 4,261 points, adding 30.31 points or 0.71 per cent after the four hours trading.

Turnover value on the premier bourse—DSE stood at BDT 3.19 billion, up by 7.04 per cent from previous session’s BDT 2.98 billion.

Of the 271 issues traded on the premier bourse, 194 advanced, 53 declined and 24 remained unchanged.

Sunlife Insurance which made debut trading Thursday dominated the day’s top turnover chart for the second consecutive session with shares worth BDT 169.22 million changing hands.

Paramount Insurance was the day’s highest gainer posting 8.92 per cent while Kohinoor Chemicals was the day’s worst loser, plunging by 8.33 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed higher with the CSE Selective Category Index, CSCX ended at 8,264.28 points after gaining 56.39 points.

Gainers beat losers 137 to 34 with 18 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse with turnover value of BDT 337.10 million.
