Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): The country’s both bourses — Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – closed higher for the second session on Wednesday with improved slightly.

The DSE General Index (DGEN) ended at 4,154.08 points, gaining 12 points or 0.28 per cent as the market opened with positive which was stable up to the end.

The turnover of the premier bourse — DSE stood at BDT 1.62 billion at the end of the day’s trading session, which was 6.57 per cent increase from previous session’s BDT 1.52 billion.

Of the 267 issues traded on the premier bourse, 182 advanced, 63 declined and 22 remained unchanged.

United Airways topped the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 93.91 million changing hands.

Purabi General Insurance was the day’s highest gainer posting a rise of 9.15 per cent following the news of its right approval by the regulator while Prime Finance First Mutual Fund was the worst loser, plunging by 9.09 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed higher with the Selective Categories Index of the CSE gained 32.68 points to close at 8,057.18 points.

Gainers beat losers 101 to 58 with 22 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse with BDT 194.07 million in turnover.

On Monday, DGEN gained 25.82 points with turnover rising over 50 per cent from 5-year lowest turnover of BDT 1.01 billion.
