Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Dhaka stocks and Chittagong stocks edged higher on Wednesday, breaking three sessions’ losing streak with slightly improved turnover value.

DGEN, the benchmark general index of Dhaka Stock Exchange ended at 4,132.68 points, adding 19.51 points or 47 per cent.

Turnover on the country’s premier bourse— DSE stood at Tk 1.34 billion, up by 28.84 per cent from previous session’s 5-year low turnover of  Tk 1.04 billion.

Of the 266 issues traded, 144 advanced, 77 declined and 45 remained unchanged on the primer bourse.

United Airways topped the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 168.44 million changing hands.

ACI Formulation, which posted 5.49 per cent rise, was the day’s highest gainer, while Rahim Textile slumped 3.16 per cent to become the worst loser.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange also closed higher with the Selective Category Index of the CSE rose 25.85 points to close at 8,006.75.

The port city bourse traded 5.47 million shares and mutual fund units, with a turnover of Tk 159.73 million.
