Bangladesh’s stocks trading resume on Wednesday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Trading and official activities on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) will resume on Wednesday after a five-day Eid vacation, officials said.
The trading on the bourses will begin at 10:30 am and continue till 2:30 pm while the office will begin at 9:30 am and continue till 5.30 pm.
Trading and official activities on the bourses remained closed from June 23 to June 27 on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr, including weekly holidays, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims.
Meanwhile, DSE performed well on June 22, the last trading session before Eid vacation, taking the DSEX to more than two months high to 5,599, advancing 31.32 points or 0.56 percent.
The two other indices -- the DS30 index and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) -- followed the suit to close at 2,071 and 1,286, after advancing 8.33 points and 5.32 points respectively.
Turnover, the important indicator of the market, also rose to BDT 7.44 billion, which was 6.28 percent higher than the previous day’s value of BDT 7.0 billion.
The port city bourse CSE also ended higher with its Selective Categories Index- CSCX, surging 57 points to finish at 10,490 points.
Gainers beat losers as 132 issues closed higher, 67 closed lower and 42 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city bourse traded 13.16 million shares and mutual fund units’ worth BDT 319 million in turnover.
