Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) got four new directors, including a former president through a direct election held on Sunday, official said.
 
The new directors are Managing Director of Rapid Securities Md Hanif Bhuiya, Managing Director of Jahan Securities Md Shajahan, former DSE President and Chairman of Royal Green Securities Abdul Haque and Managing Director of the BLI Securities Minhaz Mannan Emon.
 
Of the four, Abdul Haque served the DSE board’s top post in 2008.
 
Among 229 voters, 203 caste their votes and Hanif bagged the highest 168 votes while Shahjahan 163, Haque 129 and Minhaz 121.
 
The election of the DSE for four director’s posts was started at 10 am and ended at 4:00 pm at the DSE Hall room. Professor Abul Hashem, chairman of the election commission for the DSE polls, named the winners.
 
The newly elected directors and eight existing directors will elect a president, a senior vice-president and a vice-president on March 15 at the annual general meeting for one year.
 
A total of six candidates fight for four directorship posts and two contestants—Managing Director of Shahidullah Securities Sharif Anwar Hossain and Managing Director of Global Securities Habib Abul Mushtaque failed.
