Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Dhaka stocks went to red territory again on Thursday, in a reversal of the previous day’s recovery and key index plunged more than two per cent with lower turnover as investors sell shares in panic.
The benchmark general index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, generally known as DGEN, the main gauge of the market slipped 107.76 points or 2.06 percent to close at 5,114.49.
The broader DSE All Shares Price Index (DSI) went down by 91.50 points or 2.09 percent to close at 4,273.34. The DSE-20 blue-chip index also lost 46.35 points or 1.20 per cent to close at 3,816.39.
Turnover value decline to BDT 3.28 billion in value terms, down by 19.21 percent compared to BDT 4.06 billion in the previous session.
The loser took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 261 issues traded, only 15 advanced, 241 declined and five remained unchanged.
United Airways was the topped turnover chart with shares worth BDT 141.79 million changing hands
Kohinoor Chemicals was the highest gainer posting a rise of 5.83 percent while ICB First NRB Mutual Fund was the worst loser and lost 7.61 percent.
