DSE opens with mixed trend

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The key index of the country’s premier bourse – the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) – was experiencing fluctuation at early trading on the fourth day of the week on Wednesday.

Opening with a negative note, the key index – the benchmark general index of the DSE –DGEN lost more than 25 points or 0.49 percent within five minutes after resumption of the day’s trading at 11:00am (local time).

However, it back on positive track in the next 10 minutes and advanced 7.46 points or 0.14 percent. The DGEN again faced a downtrend and lost 16.18 points or 0.31 percent at 11:30am (local time) to stand at 5,138.49.

Out of 162 issues traded till 11:25am, 47 advanced, 110 declined while 5 remained unchanged.

The total turnover value stood at BDT 340 million.

Eastern Housing Ltd, a realtor company, was leading the turnover charts with shares worth BDT 42 million changing hands when the report was filed.

On Tuesday, the Dhaka stocks lost 70.63 points or 1.35 percent to close at 5,154.68.
