Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) board has selected Professor Dr. Swapan Kumar Bala for the top post of its management, chief executive officer (CEO), which has been remaining vacant since January last, officials said.
The decision was taken at a board meeting held on Sunday at the DSE board room presided over by its president Rakibur Rahman.
Dr. Swapan Kumar Bala is a Professor of Accounting and Information Systems Department, University of Dhaka.
Earlier on Wednesday last, DSE board primarily selected two Dhaka University teachers—Professor Dr. Swapan Kumar Bala and Associate Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman for selecting one.
The DSE will send the name to the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) today (Monday) for regulatory approval, if okayed, he will join as soon as possible.
On January 9, this year, the chief executive officer of the country’s premier bourse Dr. Musharraf M. Hussain resigned protesting alleged interference of the board in the bourse’s activities. He joined the DSE at the end of December, 2011.
