Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh’s stocks ended higher for the fourth running sessions on Sunday with key index of the major bourse crossing 4,700-mark, powered by investors buying spree.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), ended at 4,713.58 points mark after surging 37.66 points or 0.80 percent from previous session.
The DS30, comprising blue chips went up by 28.28 points or 1.58 per cent to close at 1,814.86 points.
The DSE Shariah Index gained 11.30 points or 1.02 per cent to close at 1,112.62 points.
The total turnover on DSE jumped BDT 8.38 billion, registering an increase of 22.15 percent over the previous session’s value of BDT 6.86 billion.
It was a seven-and- half month highest turnover since BDT 8.56 billion on January 30, this year.
Out of 301 issues traded, 125 advanced, 147 declined and 29 remained unchanged on the DSE floor.
MJL BD was the day’s most traded stocks with shares worth BDT 763.70 million changing hands followed BSRM Steels, Lafarge Surma Cement, ACI and Beximco.
Delta Life Insurance was the day’s highest gainer for the third day, posting a rise of 9.96 per cent while FAR Chemical was the day’s worst loser, slumping by 19.88 per cent.
The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also closed higher with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – gained 53.56 points to close at 8,811.42 points.
Losers beat gainers 131 to 77, with 21 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 11.06 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover value of BDT 524.14 million.
