Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Leaders of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) have demanded immediate announcement of 8th wage board for the journalists and employees of the newspapers and news agencies.
DUJ president Omar Faruque and general secretary Shaban Mahmud said the people working with the media are passing their days in hardship due to price hike of essentials.
"We hope the present democratic government will take necessary measures immediately in this regard realizing the present market price of the essentials," the leaders said in a press statement.
Meanwhile, an emergency meeting of DUJ will be held at 11 am on Monday at the union office in Jatiya Press Club in the capital Dhaka.
DUJ general secretary Shaban Mahmud has requested the newly elected office bearers, executive committee members and the unit chiefs to attend the meeting in time.
