London, UK (BBN)-Actor Daniel Radcliffe says he is jealous of Eddie Redmayne and it has nothing to do with the fact that The Danish Girl star is the new face of the Harry Potter universe with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Instead, Redmayne- who plays wizard Newt Scamander in the film- is giving Harry Potter a bad case of wizarding envy because he gets to wear such an impressive outfit in his very first ‘magical’ film, reports the PTI.
“Oh Eddie, in your brilliant costume ... I got jeans and a zip top for 10 years and you’ve got a great coat already?” Radcliffe joked to NME.
Redmayne portrays magizoologist Newt Scamander, who embarks on an adventure in 1926 New York.
He’s joined by Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Colin Farrell, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, and more.
Radcliffe portrayed JK Rowling’s literary character in all eight movies from 2001 to 2011 and he admits it is going to be odd for him to watch someone else take on the lead role in the upcoming London West End stage show, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
The 26-year-old said, “It’s weird. But I’m happy for it to go on without me. I’ve no ownership of it.”
When asked if he’ll go and watch the production, he added, “Now that I know (Harry’s in it) I actually really want to see it. It would be a mental thing to try and see it with lots of very excited ‘Harry Potter’ fans. But I kind of would like to know what happens now.”
