Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid is set to sit with the “just resigned” deans and department heads of BUET on Monday to find a way out to the ongoing stalemate at the university.
The meeting is scheduled to be held at the conference room of Education Ministry in the capital Dhaka at 12:00pm on the day.
The education minister also invited two former vice-chancellors and five ex-students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) for the Monday’s meeting.
Teachers, students and employees of the BUET have been demonstrating from Wednesday demanding resignation of its Vice-Chancellor Professor SM Nazrul Islam and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Habibur Rahman. The heads of all faculties, institutes and departments of BUET also resigned en masse the same day.
Meanwhile, the teachers, students and employees of BUET continued their sit-in at the administrative building for the sixth consecutive day on Monday to press home their demands.
