Eid-e-Miladunnabi observed in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, marking the birth and demise of the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM),was observed on Wednesday across Bangladesh as elsewhere in the Muslim world with religious fervour and solemnity.

On this day in 570, the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar, Prophet Muhammad (SM) was born in Makkah in Saudi Arabia with divine blessings and messages of peace for mankind. He also passed away the same day.

The day was a public holiday.

President Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages on the occasion.

Different religious and socio-cultural organizations observed the day by holding discussions, milad mahfil and bringing out processions, highlighting the significance of the day.

Islamic Foundation organized various programs to mark the day.
