Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims, is being celebrated amid feasting, family reunions and boisterous festivities across the country on Tuesday.

The day’s programs began with offering Eid prayers by millions of Muslims at mosques and eidgahs throughout Bangladesh.

The main Eid jamaat (congregation) of holy Eid-ul-Fitr was held at National Eidgah on the city’s High Court premises at 8:30am. Khatib of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Professor Maulana M Salahuddin conducted the prayer. President Abdul Hamid joined the congregation.

Besides, five congregations are scheduled to be held at 7:00am, 8:00am, 9:00am, 10:00am and 11:00am at the National Mosque in the capital Dhaka.
After the Eid prayers, people from all walks of life embraced each other and exchanged greetings in a spirit of unity, fraternity and equality as enshrined in Islam.
They are now visiting the houses of their relatives, friends and neighbours to greet them.
The national flag was hoisted atop government and non-government office buildings. The main city streets and road islands were decorated with the national flags and banners inscribed with ‘Eid Mubarak’ in Bangla and Arabic.
 Television channels and radio stations are telecasting special programmes.
 Special diet are being served in hospitals, jails, government child families, Chotomoni Nibash, centres for persons with disabilities, shelter homes, orphanages, Vagrant Welfare and Destitute Welfare centres.
 President Abul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia greeted the people on the occasion.
