Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims, will be celebrated across the country on Sunday if the moon is sighted on Saturday.
The members of the National Moon Sighting Committee will sit in a meeting at the Baitul Mukarram auditorium of the Islamic Foundation in the capital Dhaka this evening.
As per the decision of the meeting, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated amid religious fervour and enthusiasm.
President Zillur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Leader of the Opposition Khaleda Zia have greeted the countrymen and Muslims across the world on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
In separate messages, they wished peace, progress and prosperity for all.
All preparations for holding the Eid congregations have already been completed all over the country.
The main Eid congregation in the capital will be held at the National Eidgah, adjacent to the premises of the Supreme Court, at 8:30am if weather remains favourable.
In addition to this, two more separate Eid congregations will be held at Dhaka University sports ground and the south plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad.
A total of 361 Eid congregations will be held in 90 wards in Dhaka this year under the arrangement of Dhaka North and South City Corporations.
Law enforcing agencies including the Police and Rapid Action Battalion will remain on guard to ensure security at Eid congregations.
