Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Energy Ministry convened a meeting for Monday to discuss the nine-point demand of the leaders of Bangladesh Petrol Pump and Tank Lorry Owners-Workers Unity Council in order to bring an end to the ongoing petrol pump strike.
The meeting will be held Monday afternoon at its conference room where all the top leaders of the Unity Council have been invited, a senior official of the Energy Ministry confirmed.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association have expressed its solidarity with the strike called by the petrol pump owners and workers.
In a statement on Sunday, President of the association Zakir Hossain Nayon urged the government to accept “all the logical demands” of the Unity Council to resolve the situation arising out of the recent fuel price hike.
Petrol pump and tank lorry owners and workers began the indefinite strike across the country from Sunday morning to press home their 9-point demand.
Bangladesh Petrol Pump and Tank Lorry Owners-Workers Unity Council, a combined platform of pump and tank lorry owners and workers, announced the action program from a press conference at a city hotel on January 13.
Their nine-point demand includes providing 3.4 per cent commission on the sale of diesel and 4.0 per cent on the sale of petrol and octane, and raising the fare of tank lorry as a result of fuel price hike.
