Environment convention begins at SUST Jan12

Sylhet, Bangladesh (BBN)- A three-day convention on ‘Indigenous People and Environment of Sylhet’ will begin on January 12 at the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).

Bangladesh Paribesh Andalan, Bangladesh Environment Network and SUST will jointly organise the programme with the slogan ‘Save environment of Sylhet and protect the indigenous people’ to develop a mass awareness about reverse impacts of climate change.

Former chief adviser to the caretaker government justice Habibur Rahman is expected to inaugurate the convention as chief guest, the organizers said.

Besides discussions, cultural programs, an exhibition of the materials related to the environment and lifestyle of the indigenous people would also be held, they added.
