Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Some 260 in every 100000 cancer patients die annually in Bangladesh while about 2100000 people are suffering from the disease at present, experts said in Dhaka on Thursday.

The number of cancer deaths will raise to 1,150 in every 100000 by the year 2050, as infection of the disease is increasing alarmingly, they added.

On the occasion of World Cancer Day on Thursday, experts at different programs stressed the need to increase social awareness to prevent cancer and non-communicable diseases.

The theme of World Cancer Day this year is “Teach children and teenagers to avoid ultra violet (UV) exposure by being Sun Smart.”
