Last updated: December 7, 2016

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s export earnings grew by 5.46 per cent in November compared with same period of the last year, according to official data released on Tuesday.
The export earnings rose to US$ 2.90 billion in November 2016 from $2.75 billion a year ago, the state-run Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) said.
On the other hand, the overall export earnings during the first five months of current fiscal year (FY) 2016-17 grew by 6.30 per cent to $13.69 billion from $12.88 billion in the same period of last fiscal.
The earnings, however, fell short of the target by 4.17 per cent set by the government earlier for the July-November of the FY 17.
“Steady export growth of apparel and clothing items has helped achieving such export earnings during the period under review,” a senior of the EPB official explained.
Overall readymade garment exports increased by 6.39 per cent to $11.13 billion during the July-November period of the FY 17 from $10.46 billion in the same period the last fiscal, the EPB data showed.
The export growth may increase further in the month of December, the official hinted.
