Factory fire kills 8 in Bangladesh capital

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Eight workers were killed in a deadly fire that raged through a dyeing and printing factory at Shyampur in the capital on Thursday, police said.

Firefighters said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at Sonargaon Dyeing and Printing Factory Limited at about 4:50 am and soon engulfed the whole unit, leaving eight people dead.

On getting information, firemen from several city stations rushed to the spot and doused the devastating fire after more than one hour of frantic efforts with the help of locals and law enforcers.

Factory officials said all of the deceased were asleep when the blaze started.
