Fatal accident on flagship Sao Paulo monorail

Sao Paulo, Brazil (BBN)-A worker building a monorail in Brazil's biggest city, Sao Paulo, has died after a section of the prestigious project collapsed.

The authorities at the scene said at least two others had been injured, reports BBC.

The 17.7km monorail was originally meant to be completed for the football World Cup which starts in two days time, but it is behind schedule.

It was meant to connect the Congonhas airport, which handles mainly domestic flights, to three metro lines.

Brazil's preparations for the World Cup have been marred by accidents and missed deadlines.

Eight workers have died in accidents during the building of Brazil's 12 World Cup arenas.
