Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the country’s apex trade body, has urged the government to extend the deadline for submission of income tax return up to October 31.

“It won’t be possible for many taxpayers to submit income tax return by September as it followed by Ramadan and Eid-ul- Fitr, while Durga Puja is ahead,” the FBBCI said in a press statement on Sunday.

The statement said the FBCCI has already sent a recommendation to the Finance Ministry and the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for extending the deadline.

The FBCCI also urged the government to take into consideration the demand, put forward on behalf of the business community, for extending the deadline in the interest of taxpayers.
