Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The Federal Reserve surprised the market on Friday by raising the key discount rate, the rate it charges to banks for emergency loans, to 0.75 percent from 0.50 percent. On Wednesday, Brazil's Central Bank raised bank reserve requirements to 15 percent from 13.5 percent, with effect from March 22.
