Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Finance Minister AMA Muhith has urged American citizens to support duty free and quota free access of Bangladesh’s apparels to US market.

The finance minister made the appeal during talks on Economic Development: Bangladesh’s Financial Future at Johns Hopkins University in Washington DC. It was organized by School of Advance International Studies (SAIS).

Dr Walter of SAIS moderated the talks where two former US Ambassadors to Bangladesh, teachers and students of Johns Hopkins University were present, according to a massage received in Dhaka on Saturday from Washington DC.

The finance minister said Bangladesh already made a tremendous success in different sectors including pharmaceuticals, garments and manpower.

He also mentioned Bangladesh’s export performance of pharmaceutical products to sixty-one countries in this regard.

Bangladesh Ambassador to USA Akramul Qader said Bangladesh is now considered a ‘model’ among the developing countries.

Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur Rahaman said the Bangladesh government has taken many innovative steps in different sectors of the economy to make Bangladesh a self-reliant county in the near future.

He expressed the hope that these measures would help reach the growth rate at eight percent within a short time.
