Fire at Bata showroom in Bangladesh capital

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – A fire broke out in a Bata shoe showroom at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital Dhaka early Saturday, Fire Service and Civil Defence sources said.

The fire broke out at about 12:54 am (local time) and spread throughout the first and the second floor of the building, they said, adding that the origin of the fire could not be known immediately.

Being informed fire service units rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control at about 4:00 am (local time).

The flame badly damaged the second and third floors of the building, a police official said.
