Fire breaks out at Gulshan Tower in Bangladesh capital

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - A fire broke out in a 13-storey shopping complex Gulshan Tower at Gulshan-2 intersection in the capital Thursday evening.

The fire originated from a cloth showroom housed on the ground floor of the building around 6.03pm (local time), Fire Service and Civil Defence officials said.

A total of 12 fire fighting engines rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control after half an hour frantic effort, they added.

Many people trapped inside were rescued by the firemen, but none was hurt in the fire, they said, adding that the cause and extent of damage could not be known immediately.
