Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- A five-day conference of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) will begin in New Delhi in India on Monday.
A 23-member Bangladesh delegation led by Director General of BGB Major General Aziz Ahmed will attend the border conference, a BGB statement said in Dhaka on Sunday.
The delegation will include BGB sector commanders, staff officers of BGB headquarters, representative of Bangladesh High Commission to India, members of Home, Foreign and Land ministries and Joint River Commission of Bangladesh.
The meeting will discuss various issues including killing of innocent people along the border, trespassing into Bangladesh from India, illegal arrest of Bangladeshi nationals or dragging them into Indian territory and kidnapping of Bangladeshis.
Besides, the meeting will focus on stopping smuggling of contraband items including liquor, phensidyl, cannabis (ganja) and other narcotics into Bangladesh from India, infrastructure development including constructing roads, electric pillar and bribed wire fences and strengthening cooperation.
The Director General of BGB will also meet with the Home Minister and Home Secretary of India as part of the tour.
