5 more die of swine flu in India

Surat, India (BBN)-Swine flu claimed five more livFive more die of swine flu in Gujarat in Indiaes in the state on Saturday taking the toll to 71 since January 1 this year. Meanwhile, 70 new cases of swine flu were reported from various districts. The dead include two from Kutch, one each from Ahmedabad, Amreli and Surat, reports The Times of India.

The number of swine flu patients continued to spiral in South Gujarat with 22 new patients being identified positive for the deadly H1N1 virus on Saturday.
This is the highest number of patients reported in one day in the region.
The total number of swine flu patients rose to 102 in South Gujarat since January 1. With one more death on Saturday the total number of dead has gone up to 11 since January 1. The newly identified patients are being treated at different hospitals.
The deceased in Surat was a 50-year-old woman from Limbayat area of the city who died at the Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research (SMIMER).
She was under treatment for the last one week but her condition deteriorated.
The nine patients who tested positive on Saturday include two women from Amroli area, one male and a female from Katargam, one male from Godadara, one female from Mota Varachha, a teenager from Vesu, a male from Palanpur and one female from Navsari.
