Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Foreign Minister Dipu Moni on Monday launched the Diplomatic Machine Readable Passports cell in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Henceforth, all Diplomatic Passports (both manual and Machine Readable) will be issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” a foreign ministry press statement said.
Preparations are also underway to issue Machine Readable Passports in all Bangladesh Missions abroad.
In the first phase, Bangladesh Mission in Abu Dhabi and Consulate Generals in Dubai will start issuing Machine Readable Passports by the first half of January 2011.
