Foreign minister says Bangladesh to help restore peace in Afghanistan

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh would do its best to help restore peace in Afghanistan, foreign minister has said. 
Foreign Minister Dipu Moni said made the remarks during a meeting Ambassador Richard C. Holbrooke, U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, in New York on Thursday, a foreign ministry press statement said in Dhaka on Saturday.  
She also said restoration of peace in Afghanistan will certainly lead to the stability in South Asia.
Ambassador Holbrooke said that Bangladesh is one of USA’s most important friends and it needs help of friends like Bangladesh’s to ensure security and stability in Afghanistan. 
He sought for any kind of help like deploying combat troops, providing economic and development assistance or giving training among the law enforcement agencies. 
The foreign minister told Mr. Holbrooke that Bangladesh believes in peace and it will do whatever it can to restore peace in South Asia, specially in Afghanistan. 
In this connection she said that Bangladesh has already offered to send teachers and doctors there. She assured Mr. Holbrooke that Foreign Ministry will follow up the issue.
They also discussed about the flood situation in Pakistan. She informed the special representative that Bangladesh has sent medical teams there to extend medical services among the flood victims.
