Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Foreign Minister Dipu Moni has sought more British investment in Bangladesh to develop key sectors.

The foreign minister made the remark when John Denham MP, British Secretary of State for the Department of Communities and Local Government called on her at the Foreign Ministry in the capital Dhaka on Wednesday, according to an official press statement.

Dipu Moni thanked the British Government for its steadfast support for Bangladesh’s return to democracy, support for voter ID card project and for sending election observers.

The foreign minister said Bangladesh values its relations with the United Kingdom greatly and considers it a dependable trade, development and strategic partner.

The British minister appreciated ‘Vision 2021’ of the present government, which aims at turning Bangladesh into a middle income country, free form poverty and deprivation. Talks on strengthening of democratic institutions came up in the discussion.

Dipu Moni praised the role of the British cooperation in the ongoing development efforts in Bangladesh, particularly in the poverty alleviation, education, health and climate change.
