Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Dhaka lodged protests with New Delhi hours after a Bangladesh national was shot and killed by Indian Border Security Force personnel at Dhannokhola frontier of Benapole in Jessore early Saturday.
The reaction of Bangladesh comes in continuation of earlier communications expressing the deep concern and dismay of the Bangladesh government at the repetition of such incidents of deaths of Bangladesh nationals at the hands of the Indian BSF, a foreign ministry press statement said on Saturday.
It also said Md Rashed, a resident of Mathpukur village in Sharsha of Jessore, was shot and killed by BSF around 4:45am along the Bangladesh-India border under the Khulna sector 22 BGB Battalion Dhanyakhola BOP about 30 yards inside Bangladesh territory.
The ministry noted that such incidents are recurring despite categorical assurances at the highest level of the Indian government for exercising maximum restraint by the BSF.
“Concerned authorities in India have been urged conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and to take action against those responsible for such reprehensible action,” it noted.
