Colombo, Sri Lanka (BBN)- Four agreements were signed on Sunday as concrete outcome of the 15th SAARC Summit aiming to boost trade and economic activities and curbing criminal offences in the region.

The deals are the Charter of SAARC Development Fund (SDF), Agreement on the Establishment of South Asian Regional Standards Organization (SARSO), the SAARC Convention on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, and the Protocol on Accession of Afghanistan to SAFTA.

The foreign ministers of member-states of the grouping signed the agreements in the concluding session of the summit at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall in the capital, Colombo. On behalf of Nepal, the new republic’s finance minister signed the agreements.

On the other hand, the next SAARC Summit will be held in Male, the capital of the Maldives, in 2009

Current SAARC Chairperson and President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa announced the venue on Sunday in the concluding session of the two-day 15th SAARC Summit in the presence of heads of state or government of the eight member-countries of the regional forum, according to reports.
