Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Fred Witteveen has been appointed as the new national director of World Vision Bangladesh (WVB).
He will take up his office on May 17, 2016 as the 13 th country chief of Mr Witteveen has an impressive track record of managing and leading large scale operations, said a press release.
Born in Duncan, Canada, Fred completed his Masters of Business Administration from Schulich School of Business, York University, Toronto with certificate in Non-profit Management and Leadership.
He was a Senior Management Consultant for VW Consulting from 2006 to 2008.
In 2008 he moved on to work in Nairobi, Kenya where he served as the Country Director for World Renew up to 2013.
Fred has been working with World Vision International since 2013 in different countries.
World Vision Bangladesh is a Christian humanitarian, development and advocacy organization working to create long lasting change in the lives of most vulnerable children, families and communities.
World Vision serves all people regardless of religion, caste, race, colour, ability, ethnicity or gender.
World Vision became involved in Bangladesh in response to the tidal surge that occurred in the coastal areas of the country in 1970, providing relief supplies to the affected disasters victims.
During Bangladesh’s liberation war (1971), World Vision carried out relief operation in Bangladeshi refugee camps in India.
Following Bangladesh’s independence World Vision began its work in Bangladesh to help rebuild the war-torn country in 1972.
World Vision in Bangladesh now operates through 66 Area Development Programs (ADPs) and 13 grant & special projects at 66 Upazilas in 31 administrative districts throughout the country, serving some five million people with various development programs.
