Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The newly appointed French Ambassador to Bangladesh Michelle Trinquier paid courtesy call on the Foreign Minister Dipu Moni, MP on Thursday at the Foreign Ministry in the capital Dhaka.
During the call, the recalled his earlier stint in Bangladesh in 1980, as a junior diplomat, and lauded the ‘phenomenal social and economic progress’ that Bangladesh has made over the past decades, a foreign ministry press statement said.
During brief discussions on various aspects of bilateral ties, among others, the envoy informed the minister that the French Development Agency would soon open its office in Bangladesh, to further deepen French -Bangladesh development cooperation in a number of key sectors. 
The foreign minister, during the call, sought French support in building capacities in Bangladesh in certain nascent areas, aside traditional areas, namely marine sciences, hydrography, oceanography and also on higher education of Bangladeshi students and professionals in France. 
She also emphasized on the need for greater contact between the political leaders and functionaries of the two countries, the statement added.
